Information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

Information you give us

• Account details. When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication details. You may optionally add a display name.
• Submissions and listings. When you add or claim a place, post an event, submit a product, or create a coach profile, we collect what you provide, such as names, descriptions, addresses, photos, links, prices, contact details, and similar content.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address.
• Messages and inquiries. If you contact us or contact a coach or listing through the Service, we collect the contents of those messages.
• Payments. If you purchase a featured listing or other paid placement, payment is processed by our payment provider. We receive confirmation and limited billing details, but we do not collect or store full card numbers.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage and device data. Like most websites, we may collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring pages.
• Approximate location. If you use an "explore near me" feature, your browser may share your location with the map after you allow it. You can decline.
• Local storage. Your saved (favorited) places are stored in your browser using local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to our servers.

Information from third parties

We may receive information from service providers that help us run the Service, such as our authentication, hosting, email, and payment providers.

How we use your information

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Create and secure your account and review submissions and claims.
• Display listings, events, products, and coach profiles you choose to publish.
• Send transactional messages (for example, confirmations and claim updates).
• Send the newsletter and marketing emails if you opted in. You can unsubscribe anytime.
• Process payments for featured listings and other paid placements.
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the Service, such as keeping you signed in. We may also use privacy friendly analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share your information

• Public content. Listings, events, products, coach profiles, and photos you publish are visible to others by design. Do not submit information you want to keep private.
• Service providers. We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf, including hosting and database, authentication, email delivery, payment processing, and mapping and geocoding providers.
• Coaches and listing owners. If you contact a coach or owner through the Service, we share your message and contact details with them so they can respond.
• Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SoccerMapd, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If SoccerMapd is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to run the Service, which currently include Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and MapTiler with OpenStreetMap data (maps and geocoding). The Service also links to third-party retailers and websites, including affiliate partners. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

Your choices and rights

• You can update or delete content you submitted, or ask us to do so.
• You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email.
• You can clear saved places by clearing them in the app or your browser storage.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond as required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults, including parents and guardians who research youth soccer programs on behalf of their children. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Public content may remain visible until you or we remove it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

We operate in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top. Significant changes may be highlighted on the Service. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
